Xiaomi is bringing the Mi smart bedside lamp 2 to India. Launched in India via Xiaomi’s crowdfunding platform, the Mi smart bedside lamp 2 - as the name suggests – is a bedside lamp that also packs smart capabilities. This means, you can’t readily buy Xiaomi’s Mi smart bedside lamp 2 from Mi.com or Mi Home stores just yet.
Crowdfunding is a little different from traditional sales and is meant largely to gauge buyer interest. The future of the product therefore lies in the hands of the buyers. If enough buyers show interest, Xiaomi will go ahead and make the product available. If not, well, it is likely never going to talk about it again. Therefore, there’s a 50-50 chance to whether the product will ever be sold beyond the pre-defined crowdfunding period.
For now, all we know is that, the Mi smart bedside lamp 2 will cost Rs 2,299 in India and Xiaomi is likely to start shipping from December 3, should enough buyers show interest. The goal is to reach 2,000 units.

The Mi smart bedside lamp 2 works with both Google Assistant and Amazon Alexa as well as Apple’s HomeKit, and can also be controlled though Xiaomi’s Mi Home app. It does not require any connecting bridge and promises 11 years of lifespan.
Xiaomi claims its 12W Mi smart bedside lamp 2 can switch between 16 million colours and also packs custom light presets that the company calls mood settings.
Xiaomi has been slowly and steadily ramping up its portfolio of ecosystem products in India. Xiaomi sells a broad range of hardware developed either in-house or in partnership with its ecosystem partners – it says it is investing in and managing an ecosystem of over 210 companies, with over 90 of these companies focusing on the development of smart hardware and lifestyle products. It has only recently started crowdfunding in India which makes it possible for Xiaomi to gauge consumer interest and then bring products that they really want.
