If you thought that the Xiaomi range of smartphones, especially the Redmi Go Android Go handset, in India did not have competition, then there is the Asus Zenfone Live L2 which has been quietly launched and would be available globally. Pricing of this smartphone could be affordable considering the fact that the device is mid-range and features key technical specifications such as:

Asus Zenfone Live L2:

  • 5.5-inch display with 82.3% screen-to-body ratio with 400 nits brightness
  • Android 8.1 (Oreo) operating system with Asus ZenUI 5 on top
  • Quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC
  • Adreno 505 GPU
  • 13 MP, 8 MP dual rear cameras
  • 5 MP front camera
  • 2GB RAM
  • 16GB/32GB internal storage variants
  • MicroSD card slot for expansion of internal storage up to 2TB
  • LTE, HSPA, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, microUSB 2.0 connectivity
  • 3.5mm headphone jack for plugging in earphones, FM radio support
  • 3000mAh battery

Now, the recently released Redmi Go Android Go smartphone also falls into a similar category as that of the Zenfone Live L2 smartphone. The latter does not belong to the Android Go project. As of now, price of Asus’ Zenfone Live L2 is yet to surface, this smartphone would be global - also coming to India considering the fact that it has been listed on Asus’ global smartphones listing page. On the other hand, the Redmi Go is available in India for a below-Rs 5000 price.

The Asus Zenfone Live L2 - though having an odd nomenclature, seems to be designed by keeping in mind the needs of the buyers in emerging economies, it seems more like a value-for-money smartphone gauging its key technical specifications. USP of the phone is the fact that it supports expansion of internal storage and takes this up to Terabytes. 2TB should be more than sufficient even for those preferring to store HD movies within their mobile devices. The Zenfone Live L2’s 2GB RAM should also offer pretty decent HD gaming experiences.
