In an attempt to recapture its leadership in the Indian premium smartphone segment, Samsung India is now gearing up for the launch of its new phone in the Galaxy flagship series that would take on the OnePlus 6.

As per reports, the upcoming model will refresh the Galaxy A lineup and would be tagged at around Rs 30,000. The new phone is reportedly expected to be available with 6GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 processor.

The new smartphone is reportedly to sport a 6.3-inch full HD+ AMOLED Inifinity bezel-less display. Optically, the phone is likely to be equipped with a dual rear camera of 16+24MP enabled with Live Focus Feature. Meanwhile, there would be a 24MP camera in the front.

The new phone with the mentioned price tag would directly lock horns with the base variant of OnePlus 6, Mi Max 2 and the upcoming Poco's F1 smartphone.

Earlier this month, Counterpoint, a market research firm based in Hong Kong which has been regularly reporting on the Indian mobile markets, found that OnePlus recorded its highest growth in the second quarter, which was largely credited to the launch of the latest version of its flagship OnePlus 6.

Surprisingly the market for premium segment phones (Rs 30,000 or more) which was earlier dominated by Samsung and Apple in India, saw a steep fall in sales as compared to its previous year's figures.

OnePlus now stands on the top of India's premium smartphone market with a 40% share followed by Samsung with 34% and Apple with 14%. On a related note, the South Korean electronics giant had earlier acknowledged 'soft' demand in its premium flagship S9.

OnePlus' figures suggested that one-third of its global revenue was contributed by the Indian market. It has also taken steps towards providing better customers service that is not just limited to online redressal. The company has also opened offline 'experience' stores which help the customers have a better look and feel at its phones.
