TikTok owner ByteDance has launched its first smartphone and while it isn’t called the TikTok smartphone, there’s a lot going on inside it to excite fans and enthusiasts of the widely popular application. The TikTok smartphone, which has been subject of rumour mills for a while now, is officially called the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3. As is clear from the name, the Jianguo Pro 3 is being made by Chinese phone maker Smartisan - ByteDance owns quite a few Smartisan patents and talent, hence the strategic partnership.

The Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 is a high-end flagship through and through, and it packs software that makes using TikTok – or Douyin which is the Chinese version of TikTok – as simple as swiping up on the lock screen. Clearly, the focus is on getting on to the app in a jiffy. The Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 has been launched in China at a starting price of CNY 2,899 (which roughly translates to Rs 29,000) for the base variant with 8GB RAM and 128GB storage going all the way to CNY 3,599 (roughly Rs 36,000) for the top-end variant with 12GB RAM and 256GB storage. The phone will come in Black, White, and a limited edition Matsutake version in green.

Speaking of specs, the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 has a 6.39-inch 1080p+ AMOLED display and a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855+ processor paired with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB storage. The phone runs Android-based Smartisan OS 7 software and is backed by a 4,000mAh battery with 18W fast charging support through USB Type-C.

On to the cameras, the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 has four rear cameras – a 48MP main camera with Sony’s IMX586 sensor, a 13MP ultrawide-angle camera with a 123-degree field-of-view, an 8MP telephoto camera for 2x optical zoom, and a 5MP macro camera for close-ups. On the front, the Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 comes with a 20MP camera.

The Smartisan Jianguo Pro 3 or the TikTok smartphone is a China-only affair for now and it is yet to be seen if ByteDance will be bringing it to more markets.
