Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain recently teased the company’s next product launch in the country – the Redmi 8. Although a tentative timeline of launch wasn’t mentioned, we’re probably looking at an October window, possibly around the same time that Xiaomi will bring the Redmi Note 8 Pro to India. The Redmi 8 which was recently spotted on TENAA has now been spotted on China Telecom’s website revealing the phone’s key hardware specs as well as possible pricing.

Basis of the listing, the Redmi 8 will apparently come with a 6.21-inch HD+ or 720p+ display – possibly with Xiaomi’s dot notch. The phone is expected to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 439 processor paired with up to 4GB RAM and up to 64GB storage. The Redmi 8 is further said to pack a sizeable 5,000mAh battery with USB Type-C port for charging and data syncing.

On to the cameras, the phone is said to come with two rear cameras – a 12MP main camera and another 2MP depth sensor for portrait photography. On the front, the phone is said to come with an 8MP camera.

As for pricing, the listing tips the Redmi 8 to cost CNY 1,600 (roughly Rs 16,000) which going by how Xiaomi usually prices these phones, seems like an error – probably it is just place-holder text.

Xiaomi recently launched the Redmi 8A entry-level phone in India and during the launch keynote, which was hosted online, Xiaomi India head Manu Kumar Jain also teased the company’s next product – the Redmi 8. Simply put, the Redmi 8 will be Xiaomi’s next launch in India. Just like the Redmi 8A, chances are Xiaomi may globally launch the Redmi 8 also in India – unless of course, it launches it elsewhere first.

The phone was briefly shown by Manu Jain in the teaser. We’re looking at a glossy aura design, in line with the Redmi 7, albeit with a vertical stripe in the middle like the Redmi 7A. This vertical stripe will house dual cameras and a fingerprint scanner. The body should be all plastic.
