Amarnath Yatra began on June 29, with pilgrims leaving the base camp for darshan of holy cave. Pilgrims began a sacred journey to the shrine at 12,756 feet amidst chants and conch shells. The first batch with 4,603 pilgrims had reached the Kashmir valley on June 28. The pilgrim had arrived at the base camp amid stringent security arrangements. The 52-day-long annual pilgrimage will conclude on August 19. The online registrations for the yatra commenced on April 15. According to reports, more than 3.50 lakh devotees have registered for the yatra this year. The administration has set up comprehensive arrangements for the safety of devotees. These include three-tier security, area dominations, elaborate route deployment and more.
