Uttarakhand Tragic Bus Accident: 36 People Dead & 19 Injured In Accident
At least 36 people were killed while many others were injured on Monday when a bus carrying around 40 passengers plunged into a 200-meter-deep gorge in Uttarakhand’s Almora district. The bus was traveling from Garhwal to Kumaon when it crashed at Marchula, according to District Magistrate Alok Kumar Pandey. The death toll has risen to 36, and 19 people are injured. Three of the injured have been airlifted to AIIMS Rishikesh. "The casualties may go up as there were around 40 passengers in the bus when it fell into a 200-metre deep gorge," said Pandey. Emergency responders from the police and the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have arrived at the site and launched a search and rescue operation. While 22 people died on the spot, one succumbed to injuries while being taken to a hospital in Ramnagar, said Almora's District Disaster Management Officer Vineet Pal.
