Operation Langda is an informal term referring to the Uttar Pradesh Police's tactic of shooting criminals in the legs during encounters to disable them. This method has been a key element of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s aggressive law-and-order drive since 2017. As part of the operation, the police are implementing a strict zero-tolerance approach towards criminals, gangsters, and dacoits particularly those long featured on their most-wanted list.
