Carnival Cruise Ship Hits Ice in Alaska, Passengers Compare it to ‘Titanic Moment’
A Carnival cruise ship hit ice in Alaska, prompting Titanic comparisons, but no damage occurred, and the voyage continued.
A Carnival cruise ship, the Carnival Spirit, collided with a piece of ice while sailing in Alaska, sparking dramatic reactions from passengers who compared the incident to a "Titanic moment." Despite the scare, no damages were found, and the ship continued on its scheduled seven-day cruise.
In a statement, Carnival said the vessel grazed "an errant piece of drifting ice" while navigating through Tracy Arm Fjord in Alaska last Thursday. Fortunately, a thorough assessment of the ship’s hull showed no signs of damage. "The vessel continued on its cruise and there has been no impact to operations," the company confirmed. The Carnival Spirit is set to arrive at its final destination in Seattle, Washington, on Tuesday.
