Ranchi: Mahendra Singh Dhoni has a massive fan base that worships him, with some fans willing to go to great lengths to meet the legendary cricketer. One such fan, an 18-year-old named Gaurav Kumar, recently grabbed headlines after traveling 1,200 kilometers on a bicycle from Delhi to Ranchi, hoping to meet Dhoni.

Unfortunately, Gaurav was left disappointed as he didn’t get to meet Dhoni, despite camping outside the cricketer’s palatial farmhouse in Ranchi for nearly a week. Gaurav set up a tent and slept in front of the gates, eagerly waiting for a glimpse of his idol. While he did manage to see Dhoni a few times as the cricketer drove past the gate, he was unsuccessful in getting Dhoni’s attention.

Gaurav has been actively sharing his experience on social media, which has stirred up a debate. While some blame Dhoni for not acknowledging the fan, others question whether Dhoni was obligated to meet him.

One user remarked, “Dhoni comes out of his gate, and the boy can see him, but still, Dhoni hasn’t met him. You shouldn’t be a fan of such arrogant people. They polish their image through PR, but in reality, they are extremely arrogant."

Another user opined, "Indian youth should discern between reality and the curated stories of reel life. Focus on personal goals and choose role models wisely. Dhoni excels in cricket, but his success in one field doesn’t imply universal greatness."

A third user commented, "But why should he meet him? Is it an obligation? Dhoni knows that if he entertains such people, tomorrow every kid will leave their home and travel by cycle or walk barefoot for 10 days just to create a social stir so that Dhoni comes and meets them. Stop idolizing people so much."

Another comment read: "Mr. Gaurav should work harder to build his own career rather than chasing settled people. This is stupidity—wasting time to meet/greet/chase people."

This isn’t the first time Gaurav has cycled long distances to meet Dhoni. Earlier, he had cycled from Delhi to Chennai during the Indian Premier League in hopes of meeting his hero but was unsuccessful that time as well.
