New Delhi: Many Indians have opted to settle abroad in pursuit of enhanced career opportunities and financial stability. Popular destinations such as the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and Singapore attract those seeking professional growth and success.

Recently, a Reddit user who was staying in the UK asked his fellow NRIs the reasons for not returning to India on the social media platform.

''We've seen threads where people have outlined what they miss about India when living abroad - conveniences, house help, family, festivals, cheaper cost of living, and more. These are true for the most part. So for those who've settled abroad - what's stopping you from returning?'', the post read.

The post has gone viral on social media platforms.

The user shared his reasons for choosing not to return to India, highlighting the UK’s strong infrastructure, work-life balance, a judgment-free society, and low crime rate as key factors in his decision to settle there.

The query has sparked a variety of responses, with some users admitting that financial gain is their primary reason for staying abroad. Several NRIs highlighted the superior infrastructure in their adopted countries, pointing out issues in India such as inadequate public transportation, poor road conditions, and unreliable utilities. Others noted the lack of civic responsibility among Indians, contrasting it with the more considerate and law-abiding behavior observed in foreigners.

One user remarked, "Clean air, water, and food. Less corruption. Even though we pay taxes, they enhance our lives. A population with civic sense, an effective government, better work culture, and a higher standard of living where people respect each other's privacy."

Another user added, "There are many reasons why people choose not to return, including pollution, infrastructure, work-life balance, and tax benefits. Family is a major reason why many eventually come back."
