Who doesn’t love mangoes? The juicy fruit with a sweet and tangy flavour is one of the most favourite fruits in the summer season, and it is known as the ‘king of fruit’. And just like the diversity of India, the fruit has a number of varieties that are grown and sold in the country. But how much can you spend on a kilogram of mangoes? Well, there is a Japanese variety of mango named "Miyazaki,” which has a price that touches the skies.
In a recent case, farmer Sandeep Chaudhary in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, planted two trees of Miyazaki mangoes, which have a price of 2.70 lakh to 3.50 lakh per kilogram. This variety of mango was developed at the Miyazaki University of Japan. The Japanese name of this mango is "Taiyo-no-Tamago,” which means “Egg of the Sun.”
The farmer is in the news after he planted the trees. And because of the high price of these fruits, he has to keep them under the surveillance of CCTV cameras. One of the businessmen from Gujarat is interested in buying the fruit. Four years ago, the fruit was sold for Rs. 18 lakh for one kilogram.

Currently, the price of these mangoes is Rs. 3.5 lakh per kilogram in India, and due to this, the price of its sapling is also high. One sapling of these Miyazaki mangoes costs around Rs. 1,500 to Rs. 3,000, with climate conditions ranging from 25 degrees Celsius to 35 degrees Celsius during the day and around 20 degrees Celsius at night. The saplings also need direct sunlight for 6 to 8 hours every day.
India is home to various mango varieties. In a report given by the National Horticulture Board, mango is presented in India in more than 1,500 varieties. And out of all these varieties presented in the country, the farmers are focusing on Japan's Miyazaki mangoes, which are one of the most expensive fruits in the world. It is a very rare variety of mangoes that has a red and purple colour.
