Bengaluru: A four-year-old boy suffered minor injuries after falling onto the metro track at Baiyappanahalli on Thursday evening, leading to a brief disruption of metro services, according to Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL).
The incident occurred at 9:08 pm when the boy, who was playing with his sibling on platform 2, ran towards the track and slipped. The BMRCL reported that the station controller immediately activated the Emergency Trip System (ETS), which cut off the power supply to the 750-volt third rail and halted approaching trains. Security guards also engaged the ETS on both platforms, ensuring the boy’s safety.
After the power was cut, the boy was quickly brought back to the platform. The station controller examined him and found he had only minor scratches behind his left ear. The BMRCL stated, “Except for minor scratches behind the left ear, he did not have any major injuries.”
The boy and his mother were escorted by metro security to the government-run CV Raman Hospital. Doctors there found no abnormalities and referred him to Victoria Hospital for further examination. A scan revealed no issues, and the boy was subsequently discharged.
