"Most Satisfying Act of Vengeance This Year" Chinese Woman’s Revenge on Louis Vuitton Goes Viral
A Chinese woman staged a viral revenge on Louis Vuitton staff, withdrawing a large cash purchase after experiencing rude treatment.
In a remarkable turn of events, a Chinese woman, known as "Xiaomayouren" on the social media platform Xiaohongshu, has captured the attention of netizens with her dramatic act of revenge against a Louis Vuitton store in Chongqing. The incident, which took place at the StarLight Place shopping centre, has been hailed as the "most satisfying act of vengeance this year" by online commentators.
The story begins in June, when Xiaomayouren visits the Louis Vuitton outlet carrying a luxury Hermes handbag. However, despite her apparent status as a high-end customer, she was met with dismissive and rude behaviour from the store's staff. According to her account, they ignored her, directed her to outdated clothing, and responded to her inquiries with impatience and eye-rolls.
Unwilling to let the insult slide, she reached out to Louis Vuitton's headquarters to file a complaint, but her grievances were met with silence. Determined to make her point, she returned to the store two months later with a carefully planned act of revenge.
Accompanied by her assistant and a friend, Xiaomay ouren entered the store carrying 600,000 yuan in cash (approximately Rs 68.50 lakh). The group pretended to be interested in purchasing several items, leading the staff to spend two hours meticulously counting the cash. Just as the transaction seemed imminent, Xiaomayouren delivered her punchline: "We don’t want to buy now. We are leaving," before reclaiming her money and exiting the store empty-handed.
Following the incident, she shared her experience on Xiaohongshu, where it quickly went viral, garnering widespread applause from netizens. "How is it possible for me to buy their products to improve their work performance?" she wrote in her post, which has since sparked a wave of discussion on the often dismissive attitudes exhibited by luxury brand employees in China.
The episode has struck a chord with many, with one user commenting, "This ending is so delightful. I have always wondered why these shop assistants are so arrogant." Another added, "They sell luxury goods, but it does not mean they are luxury goods themselves."
As of now, Louis Vuitton's China office has yet to respond to the incident, but the story continues to resonate online, serving as a reminder that poor customer service can have unexpected consequences.
