New Delhi: Paytm issued an apology on Friday following a controversial post made by the company’s CEO, Vijay Shekhar Sharma. The post received criticism for the phrase "Ok Tata Bye Bye."

The statement shared on their official X account read: “We deeply regret any hurt caused by a recent post about Mr. Ratan Tata. His passing is a great loss for the nation, and we are truly saddened. The integrity, compassion, and kindness Mr. Tata exemplified have left a profound mark on every Indian. He will always be cherished in our hearts, and his remarkable legacy will continue to guide us. India’s Ratna, India’s legend always.” The backlash erupted when Vijay Shekhar Sharma posted a tweet to honor the late Ratan Tata.

His now-deleted post read: "A legend who will inspire every generation. Entrepreneurs of the next generation will miss interacting with the humblest businessman in India. Salutes, Sir. Ok, Tata Bye Bye."

The phrase "Ok, Tata Bye Bye" was deemed inappropriate and sparked outrage.

Ratan Tata passed away at the age of 86 on October 10. The final rites were held  afternoon at a crematorium in Mumbai with full state honors.

His half-brother, Noel Tata, has been appointed as the new chairman of Tata Trusts.
