New Delhi: As the United States marks the 23rd anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, a powerful photograph of the devastating attack has resurfaced and gone viral.

The United States witnessed one of the most horrific attacks on its soil since World War II, with planes crashing into the Twin Towers, the Pentagon, and a field in Pennsylvania, resulting in the deaths of nearly 3,000 people.

A haunting image captured by journalist Bill Biggart shows the collapse of the Twin Towers. This photograph, tragically, was his last and serves as a testament to his bravery.

Who was Bill Biggart?

Bill Biggart was an American freelance photojournalist and the only professional photographer to lose his life while covering the 9/11 attacks.

Known for his street-view photographs, Biggart was passionate about documenting conflict and social movements. According to reports, he was able to capture the event more closely than any other photographer.

Biggart’s wife called him on his cell phone shortly after the first tower's collapse. He reassured her that he was safe with the firefighters and that he would meet her in 20 minutes.

On September 15, 2001, four days after the attacks, Biggart’s remains were found alongside a bag containing his three cameras. The CompactFlash card in one of them held his final photographs, which now stand as a record of his courage and dedication.
