Vikas Khanna's Response To BBC Goes Viral After Old Clip Surface, Netizens Praise Star Chef

Michelin-star Chef Vikas Khanna's old video from the BBC interview is going viral on social media. In the viral clip, the star chef revealed where did got his sense of hunger when the anchor asked him during the interview.

During the Covid pandemic, chef Vikas Khanna received praises for his food distribution efforts. Following his social work, he appeared on a BBC interview.

In the interview, chef Vikas Khanna was asked whether he got his sense of hunger from India. Responding to the BBC anchor, Vikas Khanna humbly replied that it was New York and not India from where he got sense of hunger from.

The interview took place in 2020, however, it is after four years, when his response to BBC is going viral.

People on social media are praising Vikas Khanna for giving it back to the BBC news anchor after many found that the question asking the former about his sense of hunger was humiliating.

The BBC anchor asked Vikas Khanna that these days your are famous… you've cooked for Obamas and appeared on Gordon Ramsay cooking show… but in India, you were not from a rich family. So your sense of hunger must have come from there.

Responding to the anchor, Vikas said, “No, I'm from Amritsar, everyone gets fed there in the langars. My sense of hunger came from New York.. When I was struggling from the bottom and it was not an easy rising for a brown kid… my sense of hunger came from New York when I used to be at Grand Central or sleeping around…"   

Vikas Khanna also took to Instagram after his response went viral and said, “As this is trending worldwide, I must address this issue,” Vikas Khanna wrote.

"Every nation has its greatness & faults. India is so so multidimensional & multicultural. One of the fastest growing economies. Our cuisine is valued as our greatest soft power, our family structure, spiritual power & wisdom, literature, science, research, technology, music, culture has defined its space in the world. Our chefs are ruling the global stages & our role in the world of science & technology is symbolic to who we are & our educational systems. But somehow this is the only question significant to some," Khanna wrote in the caption of his post on Instagram.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal applauded Vikas Khanna saying his was “dignified” and criticised the interviewer’s disrespectful question. Comedian Zarna Garg also commended Vikas Khanna saying he responded with "warmth and brilliance."
