100 Newborns in Iraq Named 'Nasrallah' After Hezbollah Chief's Assassination
The Iraqi ministry said that as many as 100 babies across the countries have been registered under the name.
Tehran: Days after Hezbollah Chief Hassan Nasrallah was eliminated in Israeli airstrikes in Beirut, Iraq has witnessed a surge of newborns being named Nasrallah' in his honour.
The Iraqi ministry said that as many as 100 babies across the countries have been registered under the name.
The name 'Nasrallah' is seen as a symbol of resistance against Israelis in many arab countries, significantly in Iraq.
This comes as tensions in the Middle East continue to escalate following the violence between Iran and Israel. The matter intensified after the Hezbollah chief's assassination.
Large-scale protests erupted across the country condemning Israel's action and declaring the killing to be 'a violation of international law.'
Iraq's Prime Minister Mohammed Shia al-Sudani termed Nasrallah as "a martyr on the path of the righteous." The country also declared a three-day mourning to pay respects to the terrorist group's leader.
Nasrallah's Funeral To Be Held On Friday: Report
As per reports, the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hezbollah, who was eliminated in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon's Beirut, will take place this week.
While there has been no official confirmation or statement from the Lebanese militant group, latest reports suggest that the funeral of Hassan Nasrallah, Hezbollah Chief will take place on Friday, October 4.
Hassan Nasrallah, the Secretary General of Hezbollah was eliminated in an Israeli airstrike in Beirut, Lebanon.
Meanwhile, in another set of developments, Hassan Jaafar al-Qasir, the son-in-law of Hezbollah General Secretary Hassan Nasrallah who was recently eliminated by the Israeli Defence Forces (IDF), has also been killed in an Israeli raid in Damascus, Syria.
Hassan Jaafar al-Qasir was eliminated in an Israeli raid in Damascus, on Wednesday. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights confirmed to a major news agency saying that the Israeli raid targeted an apartment in a residential building in Damascus' Mazze district; out of the two Lebanese victims, one was Hassan Jaafar-al-Qasir, son-in-law of Hassan Nasrallah.
