Bangladeshi authorities started locking down neighbourhoods following fears over the spread of the coronavirus. As police was controlling the streets, one resident who was holding her child, said that her son needed cancer medication and that they had to go out to get to his chemotherapy treatment "lockdown or not".

The government has also ordered a 10-day general holiday until April 4 for all government and private organizations to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in the country.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough.

For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness including pneumonia, but the vast majority of people recover from the virus.
