Bangkok: After a massive 7.7-magnitude earthquake rocked Myanmar on Friday afternoon, visuals of an under-construction building collapsing have surfaced.
According to reports, there were 390 workers present at the collapsed construction site, with more than 80 still unaccounted for.
Forty-three workers are said to be trapped inside the building.
The dramatic footage captures the multi-storey building crumbling into dust, with onlookers screaming in panic.
Another clip, filmed by commuters on the road, shows the high-rise building tumbling down.
A third video shows residents running in panic to find a safe spot as the massive building collapsed into debris.
Associated Press reported that police are responding to the scene near Bangkok’s popular Chatuchak Market and had no immediate information on how many workers were at the site at the time of the collapse.
Another crushing video captures man struggling for life beneath the rubble, covered in dust and debris.
According to the National Center for Seismology, the earthquake struck around 11:50 AM at a depth of 10 km.
So far, there are no immediate reports of casualties.
In response to the widespread panic and damage caused by the tremors, Thai Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra declared a “state of emergency” in Bangkok.
The full extent of the damage and casualties is still being assessed. Rescue operations continue as officials warn of possible aftershocks.
