Texas: A strong 5.4 magnitude earthquake struck West Texas on Saturday evening, shaking buildings and startling residents across the region, with tremors felt over 100 miles away. 

The quake, centered about 35 miles south of Whites City, New Mexico, hit at 7:47 p.m. local time and was later followed by minor aftershocks. While no injuries or major damage were reported, it ranks among the most powerful tremors recorded in Texas in recent years.
