BREAKING: IDF Eliminates Hamas' Lebanon Head Fateh Sherif
Sherif also served as the head of the teachers' association under the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Lebanon.
New Delhi: The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) and Shin Bet, (Israel Security Agency) confirmed on Monday the successful elimination of Hamas leader Fateh Sherif Abu el-Amin in a targeted strike in Lebanon. This operation was executed with the assistance of intelligence data.
Sherif played a key role in coordinating Hamas activities with Hezbollah and was instrumental in recruiting members for the Palestinian militant organization. His responsibilities also included boosting Hamas’ political and military presence, the IDF disclosed.
Reports from Palestinian sources indicate that Sherif also served as the head of the teachers' association under the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) in Lebanon.
Earlier in the day, Hamas had announced that their Lebanon-based leader, Sherif, along with his wife, son, and daughter, were killed when a strike hit their home in a Palestinian refugee camp in the southern city of Tyre.
IDF, ISA Issue Joint Statement
The IDF and ISA eliminated the Head of the Lebanon Branch of the Hamas terrorist organization. Overnight, during a joint IDF and ISA intelligence-based activity, the IAF struck and eliminated the terrorist Fateh Sherif, Head of the Lebanon Branch in the Hamas terrorist organization.
Sherif was responsible for coordinating Hamas' terror activities in Lebanon with Hezbollah operatives. He was also responsible for Hamas’ efforts in Lebanon to recruit operatives and acquire weapons.
He led the Hamas terrorist organization's force build-up efforts in Lebanon and operated to advance Hamas' interests in Lebanon, both politically and militarily.
The IDF and the ISA will to continue to operate against anyone who poses a threat to the civilians of the State of Israel.
