US Vice President Kamala Harris has accepted an invitation from CNN to participate in a debate on October 23, urging her Republican rival Donald Trump to join her on stage. Harris’s campaign chairwoman, Jen O’Malley Dillon, emphasized that voters “deserve another opportunity” to hear directly from the candidates ahead of Election Day.

O'Malley Dillon noted that the debate format would be similar to the CNN debate Trump attended in June, where he praised the moderators and setup. The Trump campaign has not yet responded to the invitation.

Harris and Trump faced off previously on September 10, a debate moderated by ABC News, where Harris was deemed the clear winner according to a CNN snap poll. Following that event, Harris has expressed her eagerness for another debate, stating at a campaign event in Georgia, “I’m trying to get another debate but we’ll see.”

Despite Harris's calls for a rematch, Trump has ruled out participating again, maintaining that he won their last debate and criticizing ABC News for perceived bias against him.

Meanwhile, their running mates, Republican Senator JD Vance of Ohio and Democratic Minnesota Governor Tim Walz, are scheduled for a separate debate on October 1 with CBS News.
