Billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk has publicly criticized Indian-American venture capitalist Vinod Khosla for allegedly obstructing public access to a beach adjacent to his opulent California mansion. Musk took to social media platform X to share a photo of a sign on the beach reading, “No plebs allowed,” accompanied by the comment, “Wow, so crazy that @vkhosla put this sign on a public beach.”

The post ignited a heated online debate regarding the legality and ethics of blocking access to public beaches. Many users questioned whether Khosla's actions were permissible, given the public's right to coastal access.

Musk further accused Khosla of hypocrisy, pointing out a contradiction in Khosla's advocacy for accepting "tens of thousands of unvetted migrants" into small towns. At the same time, he allegedly denies the public access to his beach.

In a humorous follow-up, Musk quipped, “I’m throwing a party on Vinod’s beach! For cuisine, I’m thinking BBQ.”

This controversy revives a long-standing legal battle that dates back to 2008, when Khosla purchased the $32.5 million beachside property. Since then, he has faced criticism for installing a gate that prevents public access. Khosla's legal team contends that the gate is lawful since it is on his private property; however, many community members and activists disagree.

The issue escalated to the U.S. Supreme Court in 2018, which chose not to hear Khosla’s appeal, thereby upholding a lower court's ruling against him.

Khosla has previously criticized Musk for his conversation with Former US President Donald Trump , particularly regarding Musk's remarks about climate change and carbon dioxide levels, labeling them as "dumb."
