First vaccines arrive in Bangui for UN personnel

The first batch of COVID-19 vaccines for the United Nations Mission in the Central African Republic arrived in the country on Tuesday.

MINUSCA, the UN Mission in CAR, is the first UN Mission to receive these vaccines.

The AstraZeneca vaccines were received at Bangui airport by UN and government officials.

This first batch will be used to vaccinate UN agency personnel, including peacekeepers, as well as national staff and their families.

The government of the Central African Republic is awaiting a delivery of AstraZeneca vaccines for the rest of the population.
