London’s Heathrow Airport came to a halt after operations were suspended due to a significant power outage caused by a fire.

Former Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar took a jab at the incident, suggesting that India should help the UK manage its airports better.

Chandrasekhar wrote on X: “Maybe India can help the UK manage its airports better?”

Why Is Heathrow Airport Closed?

The London airport announced that it is experiencing a major power failure and urged all passengers to avoid traveling to the airport.

In an official statement, Heathrow Airport said: “Due to a fire at an electrical substation supplying the airport, Heathrow is experiencing a significant power outage. To maintain the safety of our passengers and colleagues, Heathrow will be closed until 23:59 on March 21.”

The airport authorities added: “We will provide an update when more information on the resumption of operations is available. We know this will be disappointing for passengers, and we want to reassure you that we are working as hard as possible to resolve the situation.”

The cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Heathrow Airport is London’s largest airport and the second busiest in the world.
