Former First Minister of Scotland Alex Salmond was at the High Court in Edinburgh on Monday for the first day of his trial over accusations of sexual assault. There are 14 charges of sexual offences against 10 women, all of which Salmond denies.

He is accused of attempted rape, 11 counts of sexual assault - including one with intent to rape - and two charges of indecent assault.

The charges range a period between June 29 2008 and November 11 2014, with one sexual assault said to have taken place in the month of the Scottish independence referendum in September 2014.

On Monday, the first witness gave evidence.
