A Pope, a European Queen and an African King joined a virtual ceremony Friday to mark World Food Day 2020, an annual event organized by the UN's Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to raise awareness about hunger in the world.
World Food Day comes this year as the world is battling the COVID-19 pandemic which is expected to sharply increase global hunger according to the FAO
The Rome-based agency, which also marks its 75th anniversary on October 16th, says its efforts to fight hunger have been set back 10 years.
The problem is not from lack of food, according to FAO officials, but access to it.
