US President Donald Trump slammed Iran at the 74th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA), on Tuesday, September 24, where he called the current regime as one of the "greatest security threats" for peace-loving nations. Trump explained that no responsible country should subsidize Iran’s blood lust. He called on the countries around the world to tighten the noose around Iran’s economy with more sanctions. 'We must stop Iran's path to nuclear weapons, hence I dropped out of the nuclear deal', said Trump at the UNGA.
'The regime's record of death and destruction is well known to us all. Not only is Iran the world's number one state sponsor of terrorism, but Iran's leaders are fuelling the tragic wars in both Syria and Yemen. And at the same time, the regime is squandering the nation's wealth and future in a fanatical quest for nuclear weapons', Trump declared. He further added that Iranian leaders conduct ritual chants for the death of America.
Trump elucidated that his country does not seek conflict but will never fail to defend the nation’s interest. “The United States does not seek conflict with any other nation. We desire peace, cooperation, and mutual gain with all. But I will never fail to defend America’s interests,” he was reportedly quoted saying. The speech at the UNGA was made amid flaring US-Iran tensions, especially after the attacks on Saudi oil facilities. Trump, at the start of his speech said, America is by far the world’s most powerful nation and added that hopefully, it will never have to use this power.
Trump also emphasized on a national renewal program, calling it "exciting". He said socialism and communism are about one thing only and that is the power of the ruling class. “America will never be a socialist country”, he said. Trump also rebuked globalists and opined that “The future does not belong to the globalist, the future belongs to patriots”.
'The future belongs to sovereign and independent nations, who protect their citizens, respect their neighbours and honour differences that make each country special and unique. It’s why we in the United States have embarked on an exciting program of national renewal', he added.
