Hurricane Milton live updates: Currently classified as a Category 4 storm, Hurricane Milton is expected to make landfall late tonight, with foreign media forecasting a possible impact between 2 a.m. and 6 a.m. tomorrow. The National Hurricane Center has issued urgent warnings, advising residents to complete preparations to protect life and property, including evacuations, by this morning. As conditions are expected to deteriorate this afternoon, authorities are emphasizing the importance of taking immediate action. Storm surge warnings are in effect for nearly the entire western coast of Florida, with extensive storm warnings extending across much of the state, including the east coast. Areas along the coastline between Tampa and Fort Myers could experience inundation of up to 15 feet, raising serious concerns for residents and local infrastructure. Emergency services are on high alert, and shelters are being activated to assist those in need.

In a separate post, officials urged residents in southeast Hendry County to seek immediate shelter from the "ongoing dangerous tornado," highlighting the urgent need for safety as severe weather impacts the area.

FEMA Chief Deanne Criswell issues urgent update on Hurricane Milton 

Deanne Criswell, the head of the U.S. Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), providing updates on Hurricane Milton described it as a "deadly and catastrophic" storm. Criswell emphasized the severity of the situation, urging residents in the affected areas to prioritize their safety as the hurricane approaches. "This storm poses a significant threat to life and property," she stated. She announced her immediate plans to return to Florida, where she will assess the impact and oversee the deployment of federal resources to support recovery efforts. "We are mobilizing all necessary assets to ensure communities are prepared," she said.
