US Notified Shortly Before Israel Attacked Iran, Denies Involvement: Report

Washington: The tensions in the Middle East are on a rise again as Israel has launched a second wave of strikes on Iran, targeting its military bases. The Israeli airstrikes on Iran come days after a drone attack on Israeli PM Netanyahu's personal residence. While US has revealed that they were notified of the strikes ahead of the operation, they have also denied any involvement.

US Notified Shortly Before Israel Attacked Iran: Report

As Israel launches a series of strikes on Iran targeting its military bases among other place, United States has accepted that they were informed of the operation shortly before it was conducted. According to a Reuters report quoting a US official who maintains anonymity, ‘the United States was notified by Israel ahead of its operation against targets in Iran’.

Israel-Iran War: US Denies Involvement

The US official who accepted that they were informed of the Israeli airstrike on Iran in advance, has at the same time, denied any involvement in the operation.

White House National Security Council Spokesman Sean Savett said in a statement, that they understand that Israel is conducting targeted strikes against military targets in Iran and referred reporters to the Israeli government for more details on their operation.

Israel Launches ‘Precise Airstrikes’ on Iran

Israel launched ‘precise strikes’ in Iran in the early hours of Saturday targeting Tehran's military sites, in retaliation to the October 1 ballistic missile attack, officials said.

In a statement, the Israeli Defence Forces (ISF) said, “The IDF is now precisely attacking military targets in Iran, in response to the ongoing attacks of the regime in Iran against the State of Israel in recent months, in accordance with the directive of the political echelon. The IDF is fully prepared in attack and defense, and we are following the developments from Iran and its proxies. The IDF is conducting an ongoing situation assessment, and at this stage there is no change in the directives of the Home Front Command. You must continue to be alert and vigilant, and obey the directives of the Home Front Command. We will update you on any changes immediately.”

In Tehran, the Iranian capital, the sound of explosions could be heard, with state-run media there initially acknowledging the blasts and saying some of the sounds came from air defense systems around the city. A Tehran resident told a global media agency that at least seven explosions could be heard, which rattled the surrounding area. The resident spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of reprisals. Meanwhile, state media in Syria described its air defenses as targeting “hostile targets” there as well.
