US Strikes Iran: Russia, a long time ally of Iran, has "strongly condemned" the United States for its surprise overnight bombing on Iran's key nuclear facilities in Fordow, Isfahan, and Natanz on Sunday.
Describing the actions as "irresponsible" and "gross violation of the international law, the U.N. Charter, and the U.N. Security Council resolutions." Russian Foreign Ministry said, "It is already clear that a dangerous escalation has begun, fraught with further undermining of regional and global security." The statement came after the Arab nations unanimously deemed US actions a step toward further escalation of the tensions between Israel and Iran.
US President Donald Trump confirmed the attack on the three nuclear sites within Iran through a post on his X account. “We have completed our very successful attack on the three nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan,” read the post.
Congratulating the “great American warriors” he informed that a “full payload of bombs was dropped on the primary site, Fordow." Satellite images revealed significant damage to the site as the brown mountain at Fordow appeared gray on several spots. Israel highly supported the attack and is currently assessing the damaged caused by it.
Responding to the matter, Iran affirmed that it “reserved all options” to retaliate the US strikes. The Islamic Republic then launched “its biggest ballistic missile attack" at Israel that landed in parts of central and northern Israel.
In the wake of the potential radiation leaks caused by US airstrikes, an emergency meeting convened by the Director General of the UN nuclear watchdog, International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), will be held on Monday. However, the IAEA confirmed that no increase in the off-site radiation levels has been reported.
