Ex-Formula E world champion and current DS Techeetah driver Jean-Eric Vergne has hit back at 'haters' and urged people to protect their oceans after seeing the recent Netflix hit documentary, Seaspiracy.
The ex-F1 star puts his money where his mouth is - as co-owner of the Veloce Extreme-E team racing team - in a series aimed at raising awareness of global climate issues.
Vergne said: "Nearly everything in the documentary is true and people should talk more about it and take action. And with Extreme E, that's what they are doing, there is this legacy programme and already are going start cleaning some beaches and it's important to raise the awareness."
Vergne's quest to recapture the Formula E title from teammate Antonio Felix da Costa continues at the Rome E-Prix double-header this weekend (10th/11th April), while his Veloce team will compete in the Ocean X-Prix from May 29th-30th at Lac Rose, Senegal.
