Jordan's King Abdullah II and Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II on Sunday attended a ceremony in Amman in remembrance of martyrs' sacrifices to the nation, as the Kingdom celebrates the centennial anniversary of the foundation of the Jordanian state.
Abdullah laid a wreath at the tomb of the unknown soldier and marched at Martyr's Square bestowing the Order of the State Centennial on the nation's martyrs' memorial.
The first government in Jordan was sworn in on April 11, 1921, marking the establishment of the Emirate of Transjordan under the leadership of Emir Abdullah I at the time.
The British protectorate eventually became the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan after declaring its independence from Britain in 1946.
