Al Asimah Governate: The Kuwait building fire, which claimed 50 lives including 46 Indians, was caused by a short circuit, revealed probe. According to a detailed probe by Kuwait's Fire Force, the deadly building fire tragedy revealed that the devastating blaze was caused by a short circuit, as reported by Kuwait News Agency.
Furthermore, the public prosecution of Kuwait announced that it had arrested two individuals, a Kuwaiti national and an expatriate for various charges, including "killing and injury by error due to negligence of security and safety precautions against fires."
A special team was formed to investigate the fire, it added.
This comes as the Indian Air Force's C-130J transport aircraft is on its way back to India bringing back the mortal remains of the Indians. The plane will be landing in Kochi at around 10:30 am.
CM Stalin along with other ministers will also be present to receive the bodies of the deceased. However, Kerala Health Minister Veena George has claimed she was denied permission by the Union Government to travel to Kuwait. The purpose of the visit was to coordinate relief efforts for Keralites affected by a tragic fire incident in the Gulf nation, she said.
"What we just sought from the central government was the permission to travel to Kuwait to stand with our people affected by the tragedy and coordinate activities there. That permission is denied," George told media.
Currently, preparations are underway at Kochi airport to receive the bodies of the victims. Ambulances were stationed at the terminal to carry the victims' bodies to their homes. The special flight carrying the bodies of 23 Keralites, seven Tamil Nadu natives, and one Karnataka resident is expected to reach the Cochin International Airport around 10:30 am, Deputy Inspector General, Ernakulam Range, Putta Vimaladitya told the media.
