Fire Breaks Out at Walt Disney World's EPCOT Park in Florida

A massive fire broke out on Saturday evening at Disney World's EPCOT theme park in Orlando, Florida, when a walk-in cooler ignited backstage. The cooler, situated in the France section of Epcot, was in a restricted area not open to the public.

The fire was quickly contained and extinguished before it could spread. Fortunately, there were no reported injuries. However, horrific visuals of the fire have emerged, where smoke can be seen coming out of the building, and people running away from the area, to keep themselves safe.

Video of the incident, filmed by a guest aboard the Skyliner attraction, shows thick black smoke rising from a spot between the Remy's Ratatouille Adventure ride in the France pavilion and the pathways leading to the Morocco pavilion. In the footage, a stunned witness exclaims, "Oh my God, it's right there!" as a large plume of dark smoke and a line of orange flames can be seen.

EPCOT is one of the four primary theme parks at Walt Disney World. It opened as the second park in the resort's collection, following the debut of Magic Kingdom in 1971. EPCOT was later joined by Disney's Hollywood Studios, which opened as Disney-MGM Studios in 1989, and Animal Kingdom, which opened in 1998.
