San Francisco: Open AI co-founder John Schulman announced on Social Media Platform X, that he has left Chat GPT to join Google and Amazon-backed Anthropic on Monday.
“I’ve made the difficult decision to leave OpenAI. This choice stems from my desire to deepen my focus on AI alignment and to start a new chapter of my career where I can return to hands-on technical work. I’ve decided to pursue this goal at Anthropic, where I believe I can gain new perspectives and do research alongside people deeply engaged with the topics I’m most interested in,” he posted.
This decision follows less than three months after OpenAI disbanded its superalignment team, which focused on ensuring AI systems remain under human control despite surpassing human capabilities in various tasks. Another OpenAI founder, Ilya Sutskever resigned from the company in May.
On Monday, Greg Brockman, another co-founder and the president of OpenAI, announced that he would take a sabbatical for the rest of the year.
