Washington: The world watched anxiously as Iran launched missile strikes on the Al-Udeid Air Base in Qatar on Monday, a major US military installation. But in a surprise move, US President Donald Trump downplayed the attack, calling it a "very weak response" to the recent US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. He noted that Iran provided early notice prior to launching missile attacks on the US military base, which helped in ensuring no casualties or damage. The US President surprisingly pushed for a “no further hate” narrative, putting hopes that perhaps Iran would proceed with peace now.

In another post on Truth Social, Trump wished the entire world, saying, It is now time for peace after escalating conflict. Following the missile attack on the US military base in Qatar, Trump, in a series of posts on Truth Social, confirmed that 14 missiles were fired, with 13 intercepted and one allowed to pass through because it was "headed in a non-threatening direction".

The US President asserted that no Americans were harmed and hardly any damage was done to the base. He expressed hope that Iran has "gotten it all out of their 'system'" and that there will be "no further HATE".

Trump also thanked Iran for giving the US early notice, which prevented any casualties or injuries. Perhaps most surprisingly, he stated, "Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same." He even went a step further, posting "CONGRATULATIONS WORLD, IT'S TIME FOR PEACE!".

‘Very Weak’ Iranian Response: Trump

The Al-Udeid Air Base is home to the US Central Command's forward headquarters and plays a critical role in American operations across the Middle East. Iran's attack was seen as a retaliatory measure following the US airstrikes on its nuclear sites. However, Donald Trump characterised the Iranian response as "very weak" and emphasised that the US had "very effectively countered" the attack.

In his post on social media handle, Donald Trump said, “Iran has officially responded to our Obliteration of their Nuclear Facilities with a very weak response, which we expected, and have very effectively countered. There have been 14 missiles fired — 13 were knocked down, and 1 was “set free,” because it was headed in a non-threatening direction. I am pleased to report that NO Americans were harmed, and hardly any damage was done. Most importantly, they’ve gotten it all out of their “system,” and there will, hopefully, be no further HATE. I want to thank Iran for giving us early notice, which made it possible for no lives to be lost, and nobody to be injured. Perhaps Iran can now proceed to Peace and Harmony in the Region, and I will enthusiastically encourage Israel to do the same. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

The conflict between the US and Iran has raised concerns about regional stability and the potential for further escalation. However, Trump's response suggests a pivot towards avoiding further conflict. The US and Iran have been engaged in a cycle of retaliatory strikes, with the US targeting Iranian nuclear facilities and Iran launching missile attacks on US bases. The situation remains volatile, with the possibility of further escalation still looming.

The US President's comments suggested a desire to de-escalate tensions and move towards a peaceful resolution. He praised Qatar and its leadership for efforts to maintain stability in the Gulf amid the ongoing crisis. The Emir of Qatar was thanked for his role in seeking peace in the region. Trump's response has been seen as a surprise move, given the recent tensions between the US and Iran.
