Peruvians brought their pets to a church in Lima for a special celebration on Sunday in remembrance of Saint Francis of Assisi, the saint of animals.
The pets, some wearing their best outfits, were blessed with holy water outside the catholic church, during the special service.
The pet blessing event, along with other activities, had been cancelled in the previous year due to the pandemic.
"We have resumed this activity. We know that due to COVID all the liturgical activities, blessings, Eucharistic, baptism activities have halted," said Franciscan priest, Reynaldo Gamarra.

"We wanted to gather again with our faithful along with these animals, which they love and appreciate so much, to continue with the idea of caring for God's creations."
Pet owners wore face masks as they waited for their turn to be sprinkled with holy water.

It's believed the blessings will protect them and keep them in good health.
Carlos Silva brought his pet Dalmatian 'Danna.' Silva said it's been difficult for nearly two years since the pandemic.
"It's the first time I'm taking him out long distance. He is quite nervous," he said.
"We are basically locked inside all day. But they are happy and peaceful thanks to the blessings from the father here."
