PM Modi expresses gratitude to world leaders for extending Independence Day greetings

Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his gratitude to global leaders for their messages and well-wishes on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day.

In response to a tweet by the President of the Republic of Maldives, the Prime Minister said, “Thank you for the Independence Day greetings, President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih.”

Replying to a tweet by the Prime Minister of Bhutan, the PM Modi said, “Gratitude for the wishes on our Independence Day, PM Bhutan Dr Lotay Tshering.”

In response to a tweet by the Prime Minister’s Office of Nepal, the PM Modi wrote, “Thank you, PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda for your warm wishes.”

While thanking French President Emmanuel Macron, the PM Modi recalled his recent visit to Paris and said, “Thankful for your kind wishes, President Emmanuel Macron. I fondly recall my visit to Paris and appreciate your passion towards boosting India-France ties.”

'India will be a developed nation in 2047': PM Modi

During his address on the 77th Independence Day, PM Narendra Modi conveyed that as India commemorates its 100th year of freedom in 2047, it will have attained the status of a developed nation. He passionately urged the nation's 1.4 billion citizens to persistently pursue this vision without faltering. Speaking from the historic Red Fort, Modi emphasised that the country is resolutely advancing towards the goal of achieving a developed India by 2047.

"It's not just a dream but a resolve of 1.4 billion citizens. To fulfil that resolve, hard work is essential, but our national character is the most significant force. The countries that have progressed, the ones that have overcome challenges, all of them have had a crucial catalyst – their national character. We must further strengthen our national character and move forward," he said.

Furthermore, he highlighted that India stands as a nurturer of democracy and an exemplar of diversity. PM Modi underlined that despite the multitude of languages, dialects, and diverse attires, the nation must progress unitedly, incorporating the essence of all these facets.

"The dreams are many, the resolution is clear, the policies are clear. There is no question mark on intention. But we have to accept some realities and address them...my dear family members, today I have come to seek your help from the Red Fort, I have come to seek your blessings from the Red Fort.

"In the Amrit Kaal, in 2047, when the country will celebrate 100 years of independence, then the tricolour should be that of a developed India.

"We don't have to stop, we don't have to back down and for this, suchita (probity), pardarshita (transparency), nishpakshta (impartiality) are needed," he said.

In his speech lasting almost 90 minutes, the Prime Minister highlighted that India's power emanates from its citizens.
