Praises are pouring in for a young Ethiopian woman who, showing astonishing willpower and spirit, gave an exam just 30-minutes after giving birth.

Twenty-one-year-old Almaz Derese who hails from Metu, Western Ethiopia, wrote her exam from the hospital bed. Her pictures took social media by storm and ever since, netizens are dubbing her a 'Wonder Woman'.

As per Ethiopian media, Derese had high hopes to give her exam before labour kicked in, but she had to wait it out as her exams were postponed on account of Ramzan. Derese went into labour on Monday, shortly before the first exam commenced. Even so, she chose to write her exam.

Just half an hour before that, Derese gave birth to a healthy baby boy.

Almaz was quoted saying that studying during pregnancy hadn't been a problem and put it simply when she said, “I did not want to wait until next year to graduate.”

Almaz wrote her English, Amharic and Math exams from the hospital and hopes to complete rest of her exams from the exam centre on the scheduled dates. Also, Derese has hopes to get admitted for a two-year course to prepare for university.

Her husband Tadese Tulu stood by her and supported her. He also persuaded the school to allow her to write her exams at the hospital, as per reports.

While most lauded her for her strong determination online, praising and saluting her whilst dubbing her journey as “inspiring”, others also argued that it was “wonderful, but she shouldn’t have to do that”.
