A group of 150 mothers with their babies and young children defied a police ban on climate protests to stage a "nurse-in" outside the Google offices in London on October 16. The demonstrators launched a protest at the premises of its subsidiary YouTube. The moms said they were acting because of a report in Britain's newspaper a week ago that said Google has made "considerable" commitments to climate deniers in Washington in spite of saying it supports climate action.

Mothers united despite the police ban

Lorna Greenwood, one of the activists who took part in the mass nurse-in said that its a terrible betrayal to all the parents, families and children who are suffering from drastic change and ecological crisis. Google in a report said that they are the only among the companies that contribute to organizations while strongly disagreeing with them on climate policy. The mothers united despite the police ban on protests by the Extinction Rebellion group in London late on Monday. Some of the activists scaled the entrance of YouTube's London office and unfurled banners.

Police said that they have arrested around 1600 people

Police said that they have arrested around 1600 people in the UK capital since the Extinction Rebellion group launched an attack. The group urges the government to take proper steps to tackle climate change and the increased loss of plant and animal species by blocking roads and bridges and gluing themselves to the buildings. Police also stated that at least 1400 people have been arrested in 20 cities around the world since last week, with protests taking place in Central Brussels, New York, Amsterdam, and many other places. Scores of supporters gathered for a planned peaceful protest in London's Trafalgar Square on Wednesday despite the police ban. An international NGO said the ban was an unlawful restriction to the rights of freedom of speech and expression and peaceful assembly.
