Two women killed as storm rips off roof in Poland

A 52-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter died in Poland after a storm ripped off the roof of a ski rental equipment building and sent it hurtling into people standing near a ski lift, police said.

A 52-year-old woman and her 15-year-old daughter died in Poland after a storm ripped off the roof of a ski rental equipment building and sent it hurtling into people standing near a ski lift, police said.

Three people also were injured in the incident in the mountain resort of Bukowina Tatrzanska, including the woman's 21-year-old daughter, who was in a serious condition according to authorities, and her 16-year-old son.

Police, firefighters and rescuers of the Tatra Volunteer Search and Rescue and a helicopter of the Polish Medical Air Rescue took part in the rescue operation.

Elsewhere in Poland trees bad weather conditions affected air traffic, knocked down trees and destroyed bus shelter structures.

The storm-battered Europe with hurricane-force winds and heavy rains, killing at least six people and causing severe travel disruptions as it moved eastward across the continent Monday and bore down on Germany.
