Sheikh Hasina's son Sajeeb Wazed Joy in an exclusive conversation with Republic TV has said that people of Bangladesh will pay the price for their mistake.

New Delhi: Sajeeb Wazed Joy, Sheikh Hasina's son, amid political unrest in Bangladesh, has said it was a developing country but in the aftermath of the recent violence is now heading towards becoming another Pakistan. Sajeeb Wazed Joy blamed Pakistan's ISI and other foreign powers for political turmoil in Dhaka.

Speaking exclusively to Republic TV's Managing Director and editor-in-chief Arnab Goswami over the latest situation in Bangladesh, Sajeeb Wazed Joy said her mother - Sheikh Hasina - is very disappointed, she did so much for the country, it's unfortunate, disheartening for her on how the nation is burning down. The Awami League is being targeted by the protesters who have burned down houses of almost all the Members of Parliament (MPs). They have burned down Sheikh Mujibur Rehman museum also.

Her mother Sheikh Hasina had undone 1971 in 1975, but its the third time when their family is being targeted, he said.  

Hasina didn't wish to leave country, says her son 

Sajeeb Wazed said that Sheikh Hasina didn't want to leave the country in chaos but it was them who forced her to leave for her safety.

No protesters, they are terrorists, militants, says Sajeeb Wazed Joy 

Sajeeb Wazed Joy said that all this is being done by Islamist mob, they are not protesters anymore, they have become terrorists, militants. Protesters don't loot or murder or plunder temples. “I see them as terrorists.”

There is no secular democratic force in Bangladesh right now, this is what Americans do around the world, he said.

Joy further mentioned that her mother controlled the militancy with an iron hand but now she's 77 years old, it was going to be her last term, she is retired now.

The protesters are now targeting minorities, temples. They are Islamists who have turned into a mob, he added.

This is the third time when her family is being targeted, they are done now and it will be the people of Bangladesh who will pay the price for their mistake, Sajeeb Wazed Joy mentioned. 

Hasina didn't make asylum request

Sajeeb Wazed Joy said that the UK has not denied asylum to Sheikh Hasina as she has not made any such request. READ MORE
