A convoy of motorcycle taxis took a group of doctors to far-flung districts of Peru's capital Lima on Tuesday as part of a government vaccination campaign.

The  'Mobile Vaccine' campaign aims to reach the remotest areas of the capital such as Agustino neighbourhood where people with their children and the elderly formed long lines to get vaccinated.

The Deputy Health Minister, Nancy Zerpa, supervised the process.

With hospitals in the capital mainly being used to treat COVID-19 patients, vaccinations for preventable diseases have been disrupted putting children at risk of diseases like diphtheria, measles and polio.

Peru has the fifth-highest number of coronavirus cases in the world - more than 330,000 - and has reported more than 12,000 deaths.
