Spine-Chilling Moment: Charlie Kirk Shot by Rooftop Sniper in Dark Clothing; Manhunt On to Nab the Sniper

Chief Donald Trump ally and a notable conservative activist, Charlie Kirk, was shot dead by a rooftop sniper while speaking to a large outdoor crowd at Utah Valley University on Wednesday. He was 31 years old.  Kirk was answering questions from kids when a gunshot went off.  

A viral video circulating on social media reveals the chilling details of the fateful moment. Videos show Kirk shuddering and taking his hand to his neck as he falls off his chair. People in the throng started to panic as students and other people screamed and ran to safety.

His death was announced by Donald Trump in a social media post. "The Great, and even Legendary, Charlie Kirk, is dead. No one understood or had the Heart of the Youth in the United States of America better than Charlie. He was loved and admired by ALL, especially me, and now, he is no longer with us. Melania and my Sympathies go out to his beautiful wife Erika, and family. Charlie, we love you," Trump wrote on X.

According to several media reports, Kirk had been discussing gun violence moments before he was shot. Someone from the audience had asked him if he knew how many transgender Americans have been mass shooters over the last 10 years, to which he replied, "too many."

Former US President Barack Obama also extended his condolences to Kirk's family through a social media post. "We don’t yet know what motivated the person who shot and killed Charlie Kirk, but this kind of despicable violence has no place in our democracy. Michelle and I will be praying for Charlie’s family tonight, especially his wife Erika and their two young children," he posted on X.

Charlie Kirk was shot by a sniper in dark clothing who fired from a rooftop some distance away. Conflicting reports emerge regarding the arrest of a suspect, with initial claims from the FBI director that a person, suspected to be the shooter, was in custody. The FBI initially announced that the suspect was in custody. However, the authorities clarified that the “person of interest” was released after interrogation and the shooter is still at large.
