London: United Kingdom Prime Minister Keir Starmer found himself embarrassed after a misfiring of words during his speech at the Labour Party Conference in Liverpool on Tuesday. A video of the instance is going viral.

Starmer in the video made a slight 'slip of the tongue' where he called for the release of "sausages" instead of "hostages" of Gaza. Despite him immediately clearing up the air attentively, the video has gone viral.

During his speech, Starmer said, "I call again for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, the return of the sausages - the hostages - and a recommitment to the two-state solution: recognised Palestinian state alongside a safe and secure Israel."

This comes as during his speech, the UK PM highlighted the escalation of tensions in the Middle East, between Israel and the Lebanese terrorist group Hezbollah and called for restraint, The Times of Israel reported.

"I call again for restraint and de-escalation at the border between Lebanon and Israel. I call again for all parties to step back from the brink. I call again for all parties to step back from the brink," he said.

Speaking at the conference, when Starmer was laying out a 'vision for the future of kids' in the UK,  a protester interrupted him saying, "Does that include the children of Gaza?"

To this, Starmer responded cheekily, saying, "This guy has obviously got a pass from the 2019 conference. While he’s been protesting, we’ve been changing the party and that’s why we’ve got a Labour government."

The Starmer government which was elected this year in July, has repeatedly urged for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war, speeding up humanitarian aid deliveries to Gaza and releasing the hostages by Hamas during its assault on October 7, 2023.
