New Delhi: Grok, the AI chatbot of X, has attributed that safe return of NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Sunita Williams, who were stranded aboard the International Space Station (ISS) following a technical failure, has become the subject of political claims from US President Donald Trump and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk.
The chatbot has also claimed that their involvement was more about public narrative than a direct influence on the astronauts’ return.
Trump or Musk: Who Played a Bigger Role in Sunita Williams' Return
“Neither Donald Trump nor Elon Musk should be solely credited for bringing the stranded NASA astronauts Butch Wilmore and Suni Williams back to Earth. The situation is more complex than the narratives pushed by either individual suggest, and the return was the result of a pre-existing NASA plan executed by SpaceX, Musk's company, as part of its ongoing partnership with the agency.” the chatbot replied when asked should Donald trump be credited or Elon musk be credited to bring stranded astronauts of NASA back to earth.

'No Political Interference'
Grok highlighted Trump's post on Truth Social and Elon Musk blaming the Biden administration for blocking the efforts to bring back the stranded astronauts.
However, the chatbot in its response mentioned, ""NASA officials, including former Administrator Bill Nelson and Commercial Crew Program Manager Steve Stich, have consistently stated that the decision to extend the astronauts’ stay was based on technical and operational considerations—ensuring the ISS remained adequately staffed and safe—not political interference."
