A Zoo in the UK has released footage of its own Malayan Sun bear standing on its hind legs and making some human-like gestures. England's Paradise Wildlife Park released a video to prove that the four-year-old Malayan sun bear greeting visitors at Hangzhou Zoo in the eastern province of Zhejiang by standing upright on its hind legs and gazing at the crowd is actually an animal and not a staff in a costume.

The clip of the bear interacting with the visitors at Hangzhou Zoo went viral on social media with many users doubting if the bear was real. The species' bipedal posture and wrinkled skin at the bottom sparked theories that it was actually a human in a costume. Now, the England Zoo said that the bear is real as this species is able to stand up on its hind legs. "Yup, Sun Bears are real," the British and Irish Association of Zoos and Aquariums said, sharing the footage of the sun bears named Kyra and Indera.

"They may look human when they stand, but raising themselves on hind feet is natural behaviour - to get a better view or broader range of smell," the association of the Zoo wrote. It added that Kyra and Indera are the newest bear residents at the Paradise Wildlife Park.

Sun bears usually short, don sleek black coat: Zoo

The Malayan Sun bears, as the Chinese Zoo explained earlier, have distinct features as compared with the other gigantic bears that are powerful and dangerous. Sun bears are usually short, don a sleek black coat, and have a yellowish crescent on their chests from which their name is derived.

The sun bears are also known as the honey bears or the dog-faced bears due to their resemblance to the canines. In an audio recording circulating on WeChat, the Chinese Zoo snubbed the narratives that the sun bear was an imposter. It insisted that the animal is really a bear, only it is a little smaller in size and is slightly different from the ones that people are used to seeing. It released another footage showing the four-year-old bear Angela standing on her hind legs and waving to the visitors.
