US Shooting: District Judge Shot Dead Inside Court, Kentucky Sheriff Arrested
A district judge Kevin Mullins, was shot dead inside a courthouse in Kentucky, US; the sheriff Stines has been arrested.
Whitesburg: In a rather tragic incident of shooting in United States (US), a district judge was shot dead inside the courthouse and the Sheriff, Stines has been arrested in the same case.
Letcher County Courthouse Shooting: Judge Killed, Sheriff Under Arrest
The incident happened at the Letcher County Courthouse where the judge was shot dead and the sheriff was arrested for the same. According to The Mountain Eagle, Sheriff Stines allegedly shot District Judge Kevin Mullins. in Mullins’ office adjacent to the Letcher District Courtroom before surrendering to police. The motives behind the shooting are currently under investigation.
Kentucky Courts Release Statement
Kentucky Courts released a statement acknowledging the incident: “The Kentucky Court of Justice is aware of a tragic incident that occurred today in Letcher County. We are currently in contact with law enforcement agencies, including Kentucky State Police, and are offering our full support during this difficult time.”
The statement continued, “While the investigation is ongoing, we are committed to providing assistance in any way that we can.”
‘There is Far Too Much Violence in this World’: Governor of Kentucky
Governor Andy Beshear- Governor of the Commonwealth of Kentucky also released a statement praying for a ‘better tomorrow’. His statement read, “Sadly, I have been informed that a district judge in Letcher County was shot and killed in his chambers this afternoon. There is far too much violence in this world, and I pray there is a path to a better tomorrow.”
No other injuries have been reported and the police is conducting a thorough investigation in the matter. The accused, Sheriff Stines turned himself in at the shootsite and was immediately arrested; since there were cameras inside the building, all the witnesses will be interviewed as part of the probe.
